Colorless!!!

Darkness overcomes the sky,
with bright shades of moonlight
illuminating the building skylines.

Beautiful and matchless,
are the color and faces of the tribesmen,
that give birth,
and still protect our Motherland,
despite the heinous actions of Darfur,
a.k.a. “Genocide.”

There are no synonyms for this word,
if you don’t believe me ask just ask Webster.
It is incomparable to all the other colors of the rainbow,
making it stand alone like the word “I.”

The bloodline of ancestors,
who were enslaved,
ridiculed
and killed
because of their gloomy faces,
which have been falsely assumed to
represent evil doings as history shows.

Untouchable, limitless, colorless,
it truly does stand alone,
like the voice, appeal and mantra,
of one man who screams
“Yes We Can!”

Who am I?
I am the everlasting beauty of nature itself,
I am the envious skin tone who many try to replicate,
but there is NO COLOR like this.
I am the embodiment of MLK, MJ, Ali, Gregory Hines,
Mr. West, and of course Opera…..
Yes she is one of us, despite negative allegations.

I am the heart, soul and steady beat,
of the Harlem Renaissance and Civil Rights Movement.
You can hear me through the voices
of the chorus,
“We Shall Overcome!”

I am BLACK!
